INTRODUCTION
In the first week of the year 2025, various polls were carried out in different social media platform including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. The polls included opinions of the public on different topics trending across Nigeria. A total of 6 datasets generated from the polls were analyzed to gain insight in order to enhance decision making.
The polls conducted included the following;
1. With the recent research, can you still do without Coca cola?
2. What has your experience been like with the NYSC registration portal?
3. What do you think Akpi’s lawsuit against the IGP will do?
4. How should the NYSC program be structured in the future?
5. What should be the next step, following the arrest of Stella Nwadigo?
6. What action should be taken for Nurse Olamide after not granted bail?
7. Which platform do you prefer for saving and investing?
The aim of the research is to identify the concerns of the public, turn it into data and extract meaningful insights to enhance decision making and the objectives are to conduct polls on social media platforms, extract and analyze data and visualize data to gain insight.
RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
A total of 7 polls were analyzed, with poll 2 having the highest number of votes with a total of 424 votes, followed by poll 3 with 53 votes. Polls 4 and 7 had equal number of votes with 52 total votes each, while poll 6 had 7 votes, making it the poll with the lowest number of votes.
Poll 1- With the recent research, can you still do without Coca cola?
36.8% of the total votes confirmed that they can do without coca cola, 32% do not drink Coca cola. 5.2% only voted they cannot do without Coca cola, with 26.3% have doubts if they can do without it.
Poll 2- What has your experience been like with the NYSC registration portal?
While 6% find it difficult, 89% of the people registering for NYSC find the registration portal very difficult to use. On the other hand, 1% finds it easy, while 4% finds it very easy.
Poll 3- What do you think Akpi’s lawsuit against the IGP will do?
With 55% votes, majority of the voters believes that the lawsuit against the IGP by Akpi will have to impact, 21% think it will hurt Burna boy’s fame, 19% thinks it will cause celeb-police clash, while 5% thinks it will hurt Burna boy’s fan base.
