Do you think Baba Olusi and the Lagos Governor Advisory Council have more power than President Tinubu and the Lagos Governor in choosing the APC Lagos governorship candidate?

Fig 2. Visualization of Baba Olusi’s political influence.

Lagos is one of Nigeria’s most influential states, and many believe that a group of political godfathers, led by Baba Olusi and the Lagos Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), decide who governs the state. Others, however, feel that President Tinubu and the sitting Lagos Governor hold the real power.

According to our poll, 60% of voters believe Baba Olusi and the GAC decide who becomes governor. Meanwhile, 31% think President Tinubu and the Governor have more control, while 9% believe both sides hold equal power.

This suggests that most Nigerians still see political godfathers as the real decision-makers in Lagos.

Many questioned why an educational agency would spend such a huge amount on mosquitoes instead of improving school facilities or exam processes.

The poll results showed overwhelming disapproval—89% of respondents called it a waste of public funds, while only 11% supported the decision. This confirms that Nigerians expect more transparency in how public money is spent.

While some people see this as a great opportunity for development, others worry that leasing such a large property for 35 years is too risky. The poll results were almost unanimous—97% of voters supported the deal, while only 3% opposed it. This suggests that Nigerians welcome private investment in public assets, especially when it can boost tourism and create jobs.

  3. Seyi Tinubu’s potential candidacy for Governor is viewed as almost certain, not necessarily due to merit but because of his family name.

  4. Wike’s land revocation decision is widely supported, though some people are still sceptical of his true motives.
